About Beyond Charlie
Ashok Pai, known as Beyond Charlie, is an Indian electronic artist whose sound seamlessly blends Indian classical, Carnatic, and indie folk influences with contemporary electronic music. His journey began at an early age, experimenting with production tools like FL Studio and Ableton, eventually evolving into DJing after his introduction to electronic music in 2006.
What started as curiosity soon became a lifelong pursuit. Early exposure to house music opened the door to a deeper exploration of electronic sound, but it was during his time in Hamburg, Germany in 2010 that Beyond Charlie discovered techno—a defining moment that continues to shape his artistic identity. Deeply inspired by traditional Indian instruments such as the sitar, sarod, and flute, along with Carnatic vocals, he developed a style that bridges cultural roots with modern, immersive soundscapes.
Over the years, Beyond Charlie has steadily built his presence as both a producer and performer. He is a signed artist with SWAR VST and has released original music including his debut single Arundhati, followed by recent tracks like Curd Rice and Karuna, which have collectively crossed 60,000 streams globally. His work has been featured on respected platforms such as BBC Introducing, BBC Sounds, Ibiza Live Radio, and iHeart Radio, reaching audiences across the world.
As a live performer, Beyond charlie has performed at India’s most prestigious music festival brands like Sunburn Solaris, VH1 Supersonic, Sula Fest, Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Satellite beachside, Namascray Experience, Open Air, High Tide Festival, Krank Sessions, Dunes Music Fest, Celtic, Costella Boutique Experience, Teleport and more.
